Why the Cost of Food Keeps Putting Pressure on Families
Problem
Many families are spending an increasing share of their household income on food, leaving less money available for housing, education, healthcare, transportation, savings, and other essential needs.
Why the problem matters
Food is a basic household necessity. Understanding what drives food costs and how rising prices affect household budgets can help identify practical ways to reduce financial pressure on families.
