Initiatives that turn evidence into action

EALO programs apply the same discipline as our research — problem, evidence, solution, implementation, impact — with the people closest to the problem.

EALO SOLVE

One Term. One Problem. One Solution.

EALO SOLVE partners with newly elected student and SRC leaders. During their tenure, leaders identify one significant and practical problem affecting their school or surrounding community, investigate it, and develop a solution.

EALO then works with them to mobilize resources, facilitate implementation, monitor progress and document the impact. Student leaders identify a real problem, develop a practical solution, take action and leave a measurable solution behind.

How It Works

EALO SOLVE is run in person. Participating schools and SRCs work through printed EALO templates for each stage; completed documents are collected and reviewed by EALO. This website presents approved projects and their results.

  1. 01

    Identify the Problem

Student leaders name one significant, practical problem affecting their school or community.

  2. 02

    Understand the Problem

They gather observations and evidence on its causes and who it affects.

  3. 03

    Develop the Solution

With EALO guidance, they design a practical, realistic response.

  4. 04

    Plan the Project

Goals, targets, responsibilities and a timeline are set out.

  5. 05

    Mobilize Resources

EALO helps secure the materials, partners and support required.

  6. 06

    Implement

The solution is carried out during the leaders' tenure.

  7. 07

    Monitor

Progress is tracked against the agreed plan.

  8. 08

    Measure Impact

Results are documented so the solution outlives the term.
